Stijl DesignMarkt Munich

I might have just binge watched four to five episodes of New Girl. I also might have dozed off during the last two so I can't be trusted too much on the amount of episodes. Anyway, since this is my first free evening in... years, I thought it would work well to catch up on recent events!

A couple of weeks ago, my boyfriend and I visited the "DesignMarkt" in Munich. This is their website. A friend of ours was displaying her work so we got word of it and since we had just arrived back from Sweden (more on that later) and had no other plans, we went. (Also, I'm a big sucker for anything cute and artsy.....sooo of course we went ;) ).

The market was inside a building about two floors and a few spots outside. Every stand was dedicated to different little things. They even had food-related stalls! The "down"-side was: it was awfully cramped. But I guess that's a good side if you look at it from the other side. (That made for quite a lot sides ;P).

This was inside, down where they had amazing things like beer jam and whisky cream. I didn't try any though...figure.

We started downstairs (which apparently was wrong) so went out again and then through the first floor and down the stairs afterwards. They had watches, clothes, jewelry, pottery, cushions, stationary....everything you could think of. My favourite was a little market stall by an art student (at least she looked like one) who had the cutest stationary ever. All designs were made by her and I think I left the majority of my money there...

The little backyard had food trucks and a few more stalls. We didn't really look too much at the stalls as there were so many inside but M did have a closer look at the food trucks!

Who wouldn't have?!

And that's pretty much what I went home with. Most of it are free cards but as I said...I also spent a small fortune at the stationary....part of it will turn into my 2016 calendar soon!

And I guess there is no better way to end a day then ending it with a burger ;)

Oh! Btw: That's the necklace I also bought and which was hard to see in the picture before. The blue letter pendant I got from M in Stockholm. But who couldn't say no to the lotus flower?!

We might have been a bit tired but it sure was fun. And I'm already planning on going again next year. No one can ever have enough cute design related things!!!

...now I might go, binge watch some more New Girl....

Dann Viljoen Game Reserve

So, the other weekend we decided it was time to do something. Also, I hadn't really seen any animals so far (except for the guinea fowl which lives in the river bed behind our house and is a kind of African 'Perlhuhn') and we were too late for something really big so we decided on Daan Viljoen.
Dann Viljoen is a 39km2 Game Reserve west of Windhoek and since it doesn't have any predators you can actually walk around in it! (In Etosha you're not even allowed to open the car door....strictly speaking). SO that's what we did for our Sunday afternoon!

We drove out of the city. If you do that, pretty soon the only thing you'll discover are hills and a very thin vegetation of sturdy tress and bushes.

Driving through the gate, we had to follow the street up the to restaurant/office/camping site to pay our park fee. Also, since we were too many people we used two cars. I was in the first one ;)

Though I really hadn't had any problems with the extra bit of time. In the tree on the left you can see a really common nest type. The birds built little bowls which hang there, as far out on the branch as possible, to make nesting safer for them and their babies.

It was quite dark and huge clouds were looming on the horizon. Eventually, we also started to hear the thunder.

After 10 minutes or so we got a text from the other group, telling us that they had missed the right turn and were going to take a bit longer, so we decided we would start with a mini tour around the office/camping site. Right were the path started, a warthog family and some baboons had a loud and verbal discussion on who was supposed to stay on that certain patch of earth. The baboons won (poor Pumba).

Footprints. Oh and yes, I was walking around in shorts. If you intent to give the tan a try and you are me, you need to make sacrifices (like being warm and comfortable....though it got warmer like half an hour later).

Finally, the other part of our group arrived. We got our maps...

...and started!

With my camera I somehow either end up behind or in front of people. Taking pictures in a group just somehow seems to be impossible.

Our reliable and obvious path-signs....(and I would lie if I said we didn't think about turning it around....just a bit....;P)

Somewhere on the way we decided that finally the time for proper pictures had arrived. So we left the others to walk ahead and started taking pictures. Here, with a tree.

But of course, there was more to take pictures of. Can you see them?!

But then again, this pond was asking for it ;)

In the middle of it all I started to have problems walking. Something sharp was poking into my feet. After removing my shoe for like ten times without finding anything inside, we finally found the thorn on the outside. It had pushed itself through my sole.....

More guinea fowls. This is were our trip was supposed to stop. But who would we have been if we would have actually followed what we were supposed to do. So instead, we went on and climbed one of the 'mountains'

Which I highly recommend!

Oh and when we came down (we used a different way down than up) we found this!

Since it was already starting to get dark we didn't do the other walking safari but made one round with our car. And look what we saw!!

Definitely a Sunday afternoon well spent!

Good morning!

So, because I didn't want to just be writing about past events , I'd thought I pop in to say hi right now ;)
We all just had our breakfast and are sitting around the living room table. I might actually finally get down to answer all my messages and emails. (In case you wrote me, I'm sorry it takes me so long!)

My original plan for this morning had been to simply do my laundry, but stepping into the kitchen....I quickly added some cleaning and tidying up to the schedule (haha and I later found it, it would have been my turn anyway). This is the sink after I was done with half of the dishes (it's not my turn on dishes, so I thought, to be fair, the actual dish-duty-person shouldn't be robbed of all his work ^^')

And the kitchen, after I was done with cleaning. The worst part were the maggots in the far left corner.

It's nice to be in the kitchen again when the sun actually is out. During the week it normally just starts to get light when I'm standing here.

And one things that never changes, no matter where I am: Muesli for breakfast ;)

And that's pretty much where I'm sitting right now...

Looking through our window into the sun and warmth (and yes, all the windows here have bars. It makes up for some save living).

So I hope you are all having a nice weekend too, I'll sit down now and answer all those emails then mop the floor and I still have the girls bathroom on my list. Here's to a clean weekend!

Another cooking-get-together (without actually cooking)

Just recently, for our weekly cooking-get-together, we headed into the city instead of actual cooking at home. Sometimes a treat is appropriate right?!
And we finally got to try the falaffel shop I've been eyeing ever since the first day I moved to this city!

So. We started with venturing down the little alley that leads to this tiny shop. It really is a bit hidden but once you past it you can not pass it without noticing. It's oozing character and also, there always is some cool music playing (helps with the noticing and the character ;P).

Two excited venturer and the menu....which really does consist of just falaffel (you know the stuff is good if that happens!!...well that's what we though anyway).

We had a few people waiting in front of us so we had time to consider the menu choice and make life changing decisions. And we got to see the master at work!

Also, we took in our surroundings. There was actually a lot to take in, such as papers, certifying us that the falaffel we were going to get, really were worth trying, or funny letters from customers telling us about their expirience, pictures, art....the wait didn't feel long.

Still, one always has enough time to snap a feet picture ;)

And pretty soon we were two happy falaffel owners (if only for a short amount if time). What I loved was how fresh everything was made. Herbs, salad, different kind of sauces and freshly fried falaffels.
However, I made the mistake to go with hot, which turned out to be hot hot (and not the usual 'hot' you get at german restaurants) so next time we'll go there (which will happen!) I'll go without and hope to actually taste a bit more of my wrap ;) But all in all: Go there if you can!!!! (Die Kichererbse Augsburg).

After that, we strolled a bit through the city....

Couldn't say no to some frozen yogurt.....

And tried out the famous strawberry magaritas at our favourtie coffee shop, while watching the moon rise behind the old town hall. All in all a pretty amazing evening. The next week though, we cooked again ;)
